The Society of Toxicology (SOT) Annual Meeting is almost here, and we are excited to be part of this prestigious event. This year, I'll moderate a session, deliver a lecture, and present two posters, all of which will cover important topics in toxicology.

Here’s a look at my upcoming participation in the 2025 SOT Annual Meeting
Moderating this Panel Discussion: Accelerating Acceptance of New Approach Methodologies for Respiratory Toxicology Through Standardization Efforts
Monday, March 17, 2025, 12:10 pm – 1:40 pm
Room W206A, Convention Centre
This session will address the growing use of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) in respiratory toxicology research. As we continue to develop human-relevant testing methods, there’s a critical need for standardization to make NAMs acceptable in regulatory toxicology. The role of Good In Vitro Method Practices (GIVIMP) and advances in micro physiological and organotypic test systems, particularly as they apply to assessing respiratory toxicity, will be discussed as well as the application of clinical biomarkers in toxicity evaluation, and the human precision-cut lung slice model. The session will conclude with a panel discussion, offering both regulatory and industry perspectives on standardization efforts in NAMs.
Speaking at this Lecture: Skin Deep - Navigating the Evolution and Application of Dermal Absorption Modeling in Modern Risk Assessment of Cosmetics and Personal Care Products
Wednesday, March 19, 2025, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Room W203A, Convention Centre
Dermal absorption modeling plays a pivotal role in evaluating the safety of consumer products, especially cosmetics and personal care items. In this lecture, I’ll discuss applications and best practices for skin absorption testing. The session will cover study design, regulatory acceptance of NAMs, and how physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models can enhance safety evaluations. Real-world case studies highlighting industry best practices and the challenges in dermal absorption modeling, such as handling interindividual variability and data uncertainties will also be addressed.
Presenting Posters: New Insights into Toxicology Testing
I will also present two posters at the conference, each showcasing innovative approaches to in vitro toxicology testing.
1. In vitro inhalation toxicity assay of Azoxystrobin 23% SC and Spinetoram 11.7% SC using EpiAirway™
Monday, March 17, 2025, 1:45 pm – 4:15 pm
W. Hall A2, Convention Centre
This poster, developed in collaboration with JRF Global and Roper Toxicology Consulting, focuses on inhalation toxicity testing using the EpiAirway™ model, a cutting-edge in vitro assay.
2. The use of AcutoX, a human-relevant animal product-free in vitro assay, to predict acute oral toxicity
Wednesday, March 19, 2025, 9:15 am – 11:45 am
W. Hall A2, Convention Centre
This poster, created in collaboration with XCellR8 Ltd., presents our findings using AcutoX, a novel assay that predicts acute oral toxicity without relying on animal products.
Looking Forward to Connecting
The SOT Annual Meeting offers an opportunity to share insights, and form new collaborations. I look forward to the sessions, the discussions, and the chance to meet with you in Orlando. If you’ll be attending, please feel free to stop by the sessions or reach out to connect!
See you soon in sunny Florida! 🌞
