The 3rd edition of the international conference on advances in 3D cell culture (https://www.3dccsummit.com/3dccconference) held in Goa, India in February 2026 continues to give benefits to the delegates, organisers and the wider scientific community.

We have now issued the Navigating the Regulatory Pathways and Policies for New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) White Paper. You can download this at

The paper summarises the "Navigating the Regulatory Pathways and Policies for New Approach Methodologies (NAMs)" session during the 3DCC Summit. I was given the honour to chair this interactive session. It opened with Prof. Maurice Whelan (Directorate for Health and Food, European Commission Joint Research Centre) giving a clear and interesting presentation "Addressing the Challenges of Translating In vitro Biotechnologies Towards Regulatory and Commercial Applications - A European Perspective". We then moved into the panel discussion with Maurice, Dr. Annam Visala (Joint Drugs Controller (India), CDSCO), Prof. Thomas Hartung (Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health), and Dr. Charu Chandrasekera (Canadian Institute for Animal-Free Science). The floor was immediately opened to questions from the audience. To find out about the lecture from Maurice and the panel discussions and out conclusions, please download and read the White Paper.

The manuscript was expertly written by Pooja Gupta and Lakshmi Menon with some support from me and approval by the panel members.

It was and remains a great honour and joy to be associated with the amazing team at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. A special thanks to Prof. Prajakta Dandekar Jain and Prof. Ratnesh Jain for their vision and leadership in NAMs.
